TS Window Films FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we at TS Window Films get about our products and services.

How do I clean my window films?

The majority of our films are scratch-resistant. However, we do recommend cleaning the film carefully. Use only soapy water or a household glass cleaner (without any abrasive ingredients such as baking soda) and use soft lint-free towels or spongers rather than abrasive scrubbing pads. Once you are finished, you can use a soft tissue or squeegee to remove any excess solutions from the film’s surface.

Do you install the window films?

Yes- Our team has over 20 years of experience in window film installation, covering both residential and commercial properties. In addition to this, we also offer a 12-year guarantee.

Do you get bubbles in the film?

Bubbles on the surface of the window film occur naturally through little pockets of water. These should be gone within 6 to 8 weeks and there is no need to touch them during this time (trying to smooth out the surface might cause long-term damage).

Should I get safety film for my home and business?

Smash and grab burglaries are more common but equally people can be injured by accident, whether falling through a patio or door or if the glass breaks during a disaster. Safety film not only acts as a deterrent for potential burglars but can also reduce the severity of injuries in the event of an accident.

Does window film stop the glass from breaking?

Window film does not prevent glass from shattering but it can provide more protection from breakage. For example, if your window breaks during a disaster the glass will not disperse as much, reducing the risk of injury. While solar and privacy film can hold glass to an extent, if your main priority is safety then it is best to talk to our team about installing safety or security films.

How do window films work?

Most window films are applied to the inside of the window. When sunlight hits the surface, the energy is reflected away from the window and the glass absorbs some of the energy. That energy is then partially transmitted into the room, absorbed by the window film and re-radiated in and out of the room.

What are the benefits of solar control window film?

Solar control window films can reject up to 80 per cent of the sun’s glare. This can reduce fading on furniture, upholstery and carpets as well as prevent 99 per cent of harmful ultraviolet rays from coming through the glass. The film also helps to keep you cooler in summer and warmer in winter, helping to reduce energy costs and making your home environment feel more comfortable with the removal of any hot spots.

Window film or blinds?

Window film is more effective than blinds because it reflects and ricochets the heat off the glass surface, so the inside maintains a consistent temperature. In addition to attracting dust and looking a bit dated, blinds allow heat to come through the glass and the sides, so they are less efficient at controlling heat and glare (they are more expensive too!).

What is window film?

Simply put, window film is a thin, strong laminate sheet consisting of multiple layers that have been specifically treated with protective coatings to improve window appearance or performance.

Window films are most commonly used to enhance the performance of your property’s glazing by reflecting the sun’s energy away from the glass, which controls heat and helps save on your energy costs. Window films can also be used for reducing glare and preserving your furniture.

The different types of window film available for commercial and domestic properties at TS Window Films include:

How long does film on windows last?

Our window film installations come with a warranty lasting between 10-15 years. The lifetime of a window film depends largely on the quality of the materials used, and at TS Window Films we ensure only the best films are fitted. Besides the quality of the materials, how much stress is put on the film is another significant contributor to its lifetime. For example, window film put in a spot that gets the sun twice as much as another may not last as long.

Does window film come off easily?

Once installed it is important that the window film remains in place throughout its lifetime to provide the protective, energy-saving and aesthetic qualities it was put there for. But, window film is not permanent and it is possible to remove it quite easily if done correctly. Window film should come off quite easily but the longer it has been attached to the glass, the more difficult it can be to remove.

Does window film cause condensation?

If installed improperly there is a risk that window film can cause condensation. To avoid this, we must ensure that the film is airtight when fixed to the glass to avoid any gaps or bubbles where air might get out.

Not only can this bring about condensation, it can also negate the insulating properties of your window film. At TS Window Film we have over 20 years of experience installing window film and each of our technicians is thoroughly trained to ensure a perfect installation each time.

Can window film go on any type of glass?

The great thing about window film is that it can be installed on most types of window glass. Whether you have new or existing glass, you can enjoy the benefits of window film from single and double glazing to tempered glass.

For window film to be effective it must be fixed to a completely smooth and clean surface. If you are unsure whether your glass is suitable for window film, get in touch with our friendly team and we can arrange a visit to assess your options.

Do you send out samples of window film?

We cover commercial and domestic properties across the whole of the UK and are more than happy to make a visit to you to showcase our window film. We will bring various window film samples to demonstrate how each works, and what the various benefits of each type are. Once our demonstration is complete we can then offer you a no-obligation quote based on your unique needs.

Can you see through mirrored window films at night?

Mirrored window films are always designed to reflect light from the brightest source. So at night, privacy window film will not block people’s view from outside. However, any external light, such as streetlights, will be reflected on the window potentially making it harder for anyone to see through.

Can you see through frosted window film?

The beauty of frosted window film is that it transforms a normally translucent window into an opaque one. Now when someone tries to look through your window they will not be able to make out anything in detail. While it prevents people from seeing in, frosted window film lets in all of the light, which ensures that your home or property will remain bright.

Don’t hesitate. Book this family firm who are experts at what they do. Hard working, they fitted the films in very quick time. Precise , careful and polite. Even in this heat the job was done with a smile. The house is benefiting from their work already! ☀️😅

Great service from start to finish. Excellent communications throughout the process. The lads that came to install the film were very respectful of my property & left it as they found it. They removed all the rubbish and took it with them. Both lads had a lovely friendly manner. I would highly recommend this company.
